Supporting formerly incarcerated women in their re-entry journey
"Each of us is more than the worst thing we've ever done."
- Bryan Stevenson, Just Mercy
The Circles of Spirit ministry offers small-group, spiritual, and peer support with women returning home from prison. Women in circles, both peers and mentors, will support each other as we move forward with our lives and learn to relate to each other more effectively. Circles are built on covenants or commitments we make to one another.
Supportive circles can help women name traumas and work through them. Women who have been incarcerated have unique challenges. Circles of care and support can help address them together. We can do this for each other. Women will learn about leading circles, restorative justice principles, and other ways of dealing with the ongoing challenges of family and community we all face.
My work is grounded in Unitarian Universalism, a faith tradition that is welcoming and inclusive. UUs live by a set of values and receive inspiration and guidance from many religious traditions.
